Heads Up Football Program

DVRR Jr. Terriers along with the WCMFL proudly support USA Football’s “Heads Up Football” Program. Heads Up Football is a safer way to practice and play football. The Heads Up Football program ensures that every coach is thoroughly trained in the fundamental aspects of football safety, injury prevention, and injury recognition. Our coaches are certified in skills and principles and incorporate this training in teaching football fundamentals at every level.

Head Football Coaches all have CPR / AED training. DVRR has two AEDs for football which ensures that an AED is always available at the Riegel Ridge and brought to DVRHS for all practices and games. The football AED has both adult and pediatric pads.

Cheer Coach Training

The DVRR Jr. Terriers cheer program provides highly qualified and trained cheer coaches who incorporate skill instruction for all levels. To ensure the safety of our cheerleaders, cheer practices are held on cheerleading mats. Coaches follow UCA guidelines and instruction. All cheer coaches are USA Cheer SAFETY certified.

Head Cheer Coaches all have CPR / AED training. DVRR has an AED housed at Horseshoe Bend at all times. Cheer Coaches also have a traveling AED which ensures that an AED is available at any cheer practices / competitions. Both AEDs have both adult and pediatric pads.

Player Safety and WCMFL

The WCMFL was the first league in New Jersey to mandate the exclusive use of protective headgear for Flag football. As of the 2017 season, the WCMFL required all teams in the Flag Division to supply and use a soft protective headgear made exclusively by Gamebreaker.*

*Gamebreaker’s uniquely designed protective caps have also achieved accreditation from the International Rugby Board.
